My Go-To Avocado Toasts + Exciting News!

In 3 weeks, I’ll be working as a clinical dietitian! I got selected to work in cardiology, oncology and surgery in the largest hospital/cardiac center of the province. I’ll be working 4 days a week and I won’t have internship or university projects anymore, which means I’ll be able to spend more time testing out new recipes. I’m so excited for this next step! I’m finishing my internship 2 weeks early and I’ll finally be able to start my career as a dietitian. 5 years of hard work pays off! I still have 2 weeks to go and 2 big projects to finish, which means I have no time to waste. Some meals have helped get me through my last 5 years as a student…

Sugar-Free Breakfast Banana Bread

Banana bread has got to be one of my favorite desserts. Notice here that I said dessert. I’m aware that banana bread is often seen as an “appropriate” breakfast item, but have you ever noticed how much sugar is added to a traditional banana bread? It’s terrifying. I’ll admit that there was a time I did eat sweetened breads for breakfast. In fact, it was my breakfast of choice when I woke up at 5 am to go to swim practice. < — Fun fact, I was once a competitive swimmer.  With that in mind, I wanted to try making a banana bread that would indeed be healthy enough for breakfast. This recipe has been on my mind for a while now and I regret every second I waited before…

5-Minute Raw Granola Power Bowl

Mornings are busy for most of us. As much as I would love to start the day with a relaxing yoga routine, followed by a shower and a slow breakfast with coffee and a good book, that’s never the case. My mornings usually start at 5:45 am with a quick shower, 15 minutes of putting minimal makeup and trying to tame my curly hair (then giving up and wearing the same messy ponytail), dressing up in the same old clothes for work, then eating a quick breakfast while answering emails. I then pack a quick lunch, put my coffee in a thermos and run out the door by 7:00 am. It’s real life. These fast mornings don’t allow for complex breakfasts, such as pancakes, waffles, steel-cut oats, omelets or frittatas. No…

Luxurious Chocolate Chia Pudding Parfait

As I look out the window, everything is white. It seems that winter has just started in our part of Canada and I’m not sure how I feel about those recent cold temperatures and constant snow storms. It’s truly a winter wonderland – A very cold winter wonderland. It’s a good thing I’m not tired of winter yet. I’m still excited about walking in the trails, surrounded by snow-covered trees and frozen lakes. I still love coming home to a warm cup of tea and a comforting bowl of soup. I like staying cozy inside during a snow storm, watching a movie and eating cookies. Sadly, my love for winter doesn’t last forever and by the end of the month, I’ll be craving the sunshine…

4-Ingredient Chocolate Nice Cream Smoothie

This smoothie. I know that not everyone has a food processor or a Yonanas, so I wanted to make a blender version of my Chocolate Peanut Butter Soft Serve (Nice Cream). You get the same great taste as nice cream, but in the form of a smoothie. Okay, I should maybe call this recipe a shake because it tastes nothing close to a healthy and fruity smoothie… Nope, this recipe tastes exactly like a chocolate milkshake. I should mention that even though it doesn’t taste healthy, this shake/smoothie is as healthy as it gets.  It’s made with only four ingredients (FOUR)! I used frozen bananas as a base (just like in my nice cream), which gives you a sweet, creamy ice cream-like shake. I then added some cocoa powder and nut butter…
