Vegetarian Lentil Pot Pie

I have a great Thanksgiving recipe for you guys! Okay, Thanksgiving is over in Canada, but this one is for my American friends… Or anyone who wants comfort food. There’s nothing stopping you from making this recipe any time of the year. Seriously, winter is coming, so any day could use some healthy comfort food. I honestly think that every recipe I posted on this blog until now is comfort food… Soups, veggie burgers, cookies, pie, pasta, oatmeal… That’s all comfort food to me! Shaun said that we have a different definition of comfort food… I’m sure that’s also true for some of you, but to me, it’s anything with carbs! I seriously have to share a salad recipe on this blog soon. How can I not have a salad recipe…

The Best Sugar-Free Apple Crisp

October is almost over and if you’re like me, you’re probably searching for ways to use up all the apples you picked this fall. Apple crisp is always my go-to. I hesitated to call this recipe “the best” because first of all, I’m not that confident in myself and second of all, it’s based on my opinion. However, when I tried to find a sugar-free version, I wasn’t surprised to find that every recipe contained either artificial sweeteners or maple syrup/honey. I don’t like the term sugar-free for that reason. Every time I see a sugar-free recipe, it either contains artificial sweeteners or maple syrup and honey. They might not be “refined sugars”, but they’re still very sweet, which would trigger my cravings…

Healthy Caramel Frappuccino with Coconut Whipped Cream

When you stop eating added sugar, you soon realize that there is a lot of food you can’t eat anymore. Just think about it. People seem to associate sugar with desserts, but the truth is, pretty much everything that’s processed contains sugar. Some granola bars and breakfast cereals should even be considered a dessert. Then there’s the even less obvious sources of added sugar. Think mayonnaise, ketchup, some breads, salad dressings and even chips! So when I first stopped eating sugar, you can imagine that I was overwhelmed. I went to the extreme and cut out every single source of added sugar. Now, after 2 years sugar-free, I’m a little more flexible. I know that eating ketchup or white bread at the restaurant won’t give me uncontrollable cravings. What…

How-To: Cold Brew Coffee & Ice Cubes

My last blog post of the week! This may not be a recipe, but I thought it would be fun to make how-to posts on the blog. I have a recipe using cold brew ice cubes that I’d like to share with you guys soon, but first, I want to show you how to make cold brew. Trust me, after you learn how to make it, the possibilities are endless! Think lattes, iced coffee, smoothies… Are you convinced yet? First of all, what is cold brew coffee? It’s ground coffee beans soaked for a long period of time in cold water and then filtered without having to brew the coffee. It’s less acidic and smoother than regular coffee and it lasts longer when stored in the fridge. It’s great for…

Chocolate Peanut Butter Soft Serve (Nice Cream!)

If you only try one of my recipes, this has to be the one! This is by far my most asked for recipe on Instagram. I don’t blame you guys, it’s the best! What could be better than an ice cream without any added sugar and that’s also lactose-free and vegan?! Nothing. The best part? It tastes JUST like regular ice cream! I might be wrong here since I haven’t had regular ice cream in 3 years, but it must be very close to the real thing if I can’t tell the difference. I got Shaun obsessed with nice cream too, so that’s a good thing right? Don’t tell me this doesn’t look delicious!?   Another great thing about this recipe…
