Soothing Lemon Ginger Tea + Coffee Break

Welcome to my second coffee break post! In these posts, I’ll be sharing a simple drink recipe I’m enjoying, along with a life update and other things I’m loving at the moment. For this coffee break post, I’m sharing a tea I’ve been making a lot lately – A soothing lemon ginger tea with turmeric. This is my go-to drink for when I’m feeling sick or when my digestion is bothering me. It feels great on my stomach and it helps me hydrate when I have a cold. Not to mention the ginger, which could help with nausea. This tea is so basic, that I actually hesitated sharing it. In the end though, I decided that it was a good addition to an already busy coffee break post, plus, others may find it helpful…

How I Feel Since I Stopped Eating Added Sugar

One of the questions I get asked most often is how I feel since I stopped eating added sugar. Other questions include: Why did I stop eating added sugar? Is it hard? Does it get easier? Do you still get cravings? And do you cheat sometimes and eat sugar? While I will discuss these topics in this post, you can find the specific answers in my FAQ pages here. Before I get into this post, I just want to specify what sugar-free means to me. I don’t exactly like to use the term sugar-free, because yes, I still eat natural sugar. So since I stopped eating added sugar, this is what I’ve been avoiding: Refined sugars, such as white sugar, brown sugar, coconut sugar, etc. Liquid sweeteners, including honey, maple syrup, agave syrup and…

Our First 3 Months in British Columbia

It’s been 3 months since we moved to British Columbia and left New Brunswick. 3 full months away from family and friends. I get a lot of questions about our move. People asking how we’re finding it in British Columbia, away from home. The truth is, it’s so much better than I ever expected. I was honestly expecting to miss home a lot more. Don’t get me wrong, I do miss my family and friends (and my dog so much!), but I expected tears at one point, which hasn’t happened yet. I suppose we’ve been too busy to really miss home so far. Whenever we’re not working, we’re exploring everything this beautiful province has to offer. I think it’s safe to say…

September Coffee Break

After sharing monthly favorites posts for one year, my little personal posts are taking on a new name. Welcome to my first coffee break post. To be fair, this post will be similar to my monthly favorites, but I’ll be sharing a new drink recipe with these posts each month, starting in October. That means, you’ll get a new drink recipe and we’ll catch up a little on life. Similarly to my favorites posts, I’ll share my current favorite things (recipes and more) and I’ll share a bit more about what’s been going on in our life. My hope with these posts is that you’ll be able to get to know me a little better. I also hope it helps you discover new recipes, products and…

August Favorites

It’s the last day of August (I can’t believe it) and it’s time for my August favorites post! As I’m writing this, I’m sitting in a Starbucks drinking a decaf Americano, on my way to Seattle. It’s my first time in Washington and as we’re living in British Columbia, we’re taking advantage and exploring all the places we can out west! I’m looking forward to a weekend in Seattle exploring the city, trying new vegetarian restaurants and camping at Olympic National Park. Is there anything we need to do or see? Let me know! As we’re getting ready to explore the city, I’ll leave you with my August favorites. Currently Reading This month, I was ambitious and read…
