Vegan Cashew Eggnog (Sugar-Free)

I hope you’re starting to get in the holiday spirit because I have a delicious vegan cashew eggnog for you guys today! Where do you stand on traditional eggnog? Do you like it or not? Growing up, I was obsessed with it and so was my whole family. As soon as eggnog would come out at the store, my mom would buy a few cartons and we’d go through all of it within days. We were all eggnog lovers. It’s only later that I realized that not everyone is as obsessed with this sweet milk as we are. Some say it’s sickeningly sweet. I didn’t understand them… Until now. I will admit, it’s been 4 years since I’ve had eggnog (since I stopped eating added…

No-Bake Walnut Granola Bars

No-bake walnut granola bars. A new granola bar recipe to my already extensive list of energy bites and bars. I can’t help it, they’re my all-time favorite snack/dessert. These walnut granola bars are simple and require only 6 ingredients (7 if drizzling with chocolate) and less than 15 minutes. There’s really no better granola bar than homemade. Plus, they’re so much healthier than the sugar-laden pre-packaged bars you find at the store. These walnut granola bars in particular are packed with fiber from dates, oats, nuts and seeds. Also, they offer some omega-3s and protein for a balanced snack. It’s been a very long week around here. I’ve been in bed for 3 days fighting a bug that Shaun passed on to…

Warm Turmeric Ginger Milk

Making winter days a little better with this warm turmeric ginger milk. Not only is it warm and comforting, but this milk’s bright color is such a happy sight on a cloudy day like this one. We’re expecting rain for the next couple of days, which makes me crave spring even more. I usually love winter, but this one has been dreadful. We were basically stuck inside from the end of December to the beginning of January due to the extreme cold temperatures. Since then, we’ve been experiencing drastic changes in temperature, which is not ideal for any outdoor activity. We seem to always have a few cold days with snow, followed by mild temperatures and heavy rain. It then freezes again and we’re left with icy roads and trails. Basically, I…

The Healthiest Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Everyone is sharing healthy smoothie and salad recipes to start the New Year and I’m just here, sharing a peanut butter hot chocolate… One week into 2018. This is not just any hot chocolate recipe though. This is the healthiest hot chocolate recipe (just go with it). Why am I calling it the healthiest hot chocolate recipe? Well, because it doesn’t have any cream or sugar. Instead, it’s made with cashews, peanut butter, dates and cocoa. What could be healthier?! (Okay, there is probably a “healthier” hot chocolate out there with special expensive ingredients, but I wanted a simple healthy drink that uses everyday ingredients). I made this recipe a few weeks ago, after walking home from work in -34°C weather (we’ve been experiencing very cold temperatures over…
