Our First 3 Months in British Columbia

It’s been 3 months since we moved to British Columbia and left New Brunswick. 3 full months away from family and friends. I get a lot of questions about our move. People asking how we’re finding it in British Columbia, away from home. The truth is, it’s so much better than I ever expected. I was honestly expecting to miss home a lot more. Don’t get me wrong, I do miss my family and friends (and my dog so much!), but I expected tears at one point, which hasn’t happened yet. I suppose we’ve been too busy to really miss home so far. Whenever we’re not working, we’re exploring everything this beautiful province has to offer. I think it’s safe to say…

Our Road Trip Across Canada – Part 2

We’re officially in British Columbia, our new home after a long road trip across Canada. 11 days on the road, from New Brunswick to Vernon, British Columbia. We arrived home last week and we’ve been busy ever since with unpacking, cleaning and organizing our life in this new city. Let me tell you, there’s a lot to do when moving across the country! All of it is worth it though because I can honestly say that we live in paradise. Well, paradise in my eyes anyways… To me, Vernon looks like a mix between Italy and somewhere down south, like California or Florida. Maybe it just feels like this now, while it’s summer and everything is new and exciting. I’m sure things will change once winter arrives, but for…

Our Road Trip Across Canada – Part 1

As I’m finishing this post, we’re driving in the middle of the Canadian prairies. We’re officially halfway across Canada, 6 more days to go! Things are very flat around here, just as I imagined, but it’s beautiful in its own kind of way. Since we’re halfway through our trip across Canada, I thought I’d share with you guys what we’ve been up to up till now. I have a lot to share, so dividing our trip into two posts seemed like the best way to do it. I had to choose from all my photos and trust me, there are a lot more. But I chose my favorites to share with you guys today, along with a few details from each day and each city/park we’ve visited. Without further ado, here…

May Favorites (2018)

I’m taking a break from recipes today and I’m sharing my May favorites! The weather is finally getting warmer here and I’m getting ready to go on a little backpacking trip with my friend this weekend. We did this trail several times together, but it’s been about 3 years since our last overnight hiking trip… How does the time go by so fast?! I’m excited to be in nature for several days, away from my to-do list. I mentioned to someone at work that I was doing this, to which she responded: There must be an easier way to have fun? Hah! It’s true, but nothing is quite as rewarding as hiking 40km with a 30lbs bag on your back, sleeping in the woods, preparing your…

March Favorites (2018)

It’s hard to believe that I’m writing my March favorites post already… Where does the time go?! But here I am, writing another monthly favorites post. I hope you guys enjoy reading them as much as I love writing them! It’s about this time of year when I start to get tired of winter. Unfortunately, in our part of the world, winter usually stays around until April or May. I’ve had several snow days on my birthday (April 13) over the years. If it continues like this, we won’t see spring here for at least another month. We’ve had 2 snow storms over the last week or so, but I’m hoping the snow doesn’t stay too long. Either way, this week will be…
